What to Expect:

⏺︎ Day 1: MINTURNO TO SPIGNO SATURNIA SUPERIORE Departure: Minturno Arrival: Spigno Saturnia Superiore Distance: 27.6 km Elevation gain: +703 m Our journey begins in the main square of Minturno, right below the Castle: two main streets, running parallel to each other, crossing the most characteristic part of the village. Once reached the coast and explored the Parco di Gianola, we'll begin the ascent towards Spigno Saturnia Superiore. ⏺︎ DAY 2: SPIGNO-SATURNIA SUPERIORE TO ACQUAVIVA-FORMIA Departure: Spigno Saturnia Superiore Arrival: Acquaviva – Formia Distance: 22.6 km Elevation gain: +1492 m The most demanding and most scenic stage of the trail! You will reach three peaks: Monte Petrella, Monte Sant’Angelo, and Monte Redentore. A fully mountain route along CAI trails. Overnight stay and meal at Rifugio Acquaviva, a beautiful traditional mountain hut with shared dormitory rooms. ⏺︎ DAY 3: ACQUAVIVA-FORMIA TO ITRI Departure: Acquaviva – Formia Arrival: Itri Borgo Distance: 21.4 km Elevation gain: +1035 m An ancient path, one of the old “snow routes,” winds beneath Monte Tuonaco to the Valle di Sciro, with its lunar landscape of karst sinkholes. The trail continues to the summit of Monte Ruazzo, offering stunning views of the sea and the Pontine Islands, including Ponza, Zannone, Palmarola, and the Circeo promontory. On the way to Itri Borgo, we will walk about 2 km along an ancient Roman-paved road, passing the ruins of the old Fortino di Sant’Andrea. ⏺︎ DAY 4: ITRI TO GAETA Start: Itri Finish: Gaeta Distance: 19 km Elevation gain: +498 m The final stage of the trail leads to Gaeta, my hometown, with clear views of the Gulf of Gaeta and the surrounding coastline. The path follows ancient roads and trails, passing Monte Orlando, the Montagna Spaccata, and old Bourbon fortifications. It descends toward the old town, crossing streets with local shops and traditional products, before reaching the Castello Angioino Aragonese, the endpoint of our journey - perfect place to relax and enjoy beautiful white sand beaches and slow-paced local life.
